As an employee of Pioneer Electronics, Jaed Arzadon obviously has a brand of choice. When outfitting one of his personal vehicles, a '08 Scion xB, he accordingly wanted to highlight the company's mobile audio products while creating something fun to listen to while stuck in the omnipresent Southern California traffic. "It would partially be used for demonstration of Pioneer products when possible," he explains. Really? Is that what those monitors are for? "OK," he adds, "it's really for my beautiful daughter, Jaedlyn, so she can be entertained while she's in the car."
For the install, Arzadon handled the wiring himself. Not only does he have his knowledge from working at Pioneer in his favor, but he also has years of competing under his belt. For fabrication, however, he turned to pro Chris Yato and for the alarm system he went to Tim Olson. Finished off with some Five Axis Ground Effects body mods, a new set of 19-inch Volk Racing GT-F wheels on Toyo Tires, and a low stance from Hotchkis, this xB is a complete package inside and out.
Dash
Scions already have an appealing hip interior, but Arzadon tweaked the xB's cab to make it his own by painting all the trim the same silver color. "It's not a lot of 'wow,' but all just tastefully done," he relates. In the middle of all this newly painted trim work, he dropped a Pioneer AVIC-Z2 to provide navigation, video, and audio in the factory location.
Door speakers
Although the Pioneer TS-C720PRS midbasses in the front doors were placed in the factory locations, Arzadon wanted a custom look. "Chris carefully cut out the factory door panel and created trim rings painted in the stock silver color," Arzadon reveals. The installation didn't require any heavy modifications. The TS-C520PRS drivers from the same set were located in the rear doors using the same technique. Finally, the tweeters for the set dropped into the corner pillars, also the stock locations.
