Memphis Car Audio Racers Continue to Shine
Race cars sponsored by Memphis Car Audio performed extremely well in recent events across the country. Both the AEM Drag and Drift Racing Team and the RealTime Racing team are enjoying successful 2005 seasons.
Peter Kleinubing earned RealTime Racing's 56th World Challenge race victory May 22 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Team leader Peter Cunningham finished third in the race. The rest of the team revealed its strength as Eric Curran and Brandon Davis had their best finishes of the season. All four drivers exceeded Mid-Ohio's official lap record at differing points throughout the race. "That says a lot about the strength and consistency of RealTime's drivers, but it also speaks volumes for the quality and equality of preparation by the RealTime crew," states team manager Nathan Bonneau.
The AEM racing team made its Formula D (drift car) debut in Atlanta on May 6-7 with driver Stephan Papadakis qualifying sixth in the 12-car pre-qualifying field. This earned him a spot in the next day of racing. Although he did not qualify for one of the final 16 spots, Papadakis did finish among the top 32.
In his next race, Papadakis qualified fifth at the NHRA Northeast Spring Nationals at Atco Raceway in New Jersey on May 14-15, winning his first race, but unable to continue to a second round due to traction problems. Papadakis's Civic is currently the world's quickest Honda. The team already has one victory, one runner-up finish, one top qualifier finish, and one track record so far this season.
Racing enthusiasts can easily spot these winning teams by the Memphis Car Audio "Big M" on each vehicle. The Real Time cars have logos on the hoods. The AEM drag and drift car has Memphis logos on the windshield and front lower fenders.
