Businessman Joseph martinez has a taste for the finer, and faster, things in life. That explains why he needs a $72,000 '06 dodge Viper to get around town. "i liked it," martinez puts it simply, "and needed a daily driver." Even though this high-end car had almost everything going on in the performance end (martinez still plans to install a twin turbo), the audio end had the 35- year-old yearning for something better. For that needed improvement, he turned to carisma audio in Tampa and installer Jason grandmaison.
Keeping It Simple
The Viper sports an uncomplicated audio system that incorporates the factory head unit. The first step was stripping out the interior to install sound damping and heat control materials. cascade audio VB4 coats the inner door skin of the front doors while cascade audio deflex kills off standing waves and resonance from behind the speakers.
New Aims
Grandmaison utilized the factory locations wherever possible. in the a-pillars, tweeters from the Exile audio XT65 components bring in the highs but unlike the factory speakers, these aim across the windshield.
Door Swap
The Viper doesn't have any rear speakers, but the front speakers make their presence heard from the front door factory locations. The aforementioned sound dampening deadens any resonance problems with the 6.5" midrange from the Exile audio XT65 component set.
