BF Goodrich Extreme Autofest
SEPT 8, 2002 -- COORS AMPHITHEATER -- SAN DIEGO, CA
By Rodney Wills
Once again, the CA&E crew headed off to another Extreme Autofest, sponsored by BF Goodrich, Tucan, Speed Options, Meguires and Tokico. This time the show was held a couple of hours south of Los Angeles, between San Diego and the Mexico boarder. For most it was the last show before school would be in full swing. Temmo Figueroa of Alpine Electronics brought out the BMW X-5 that was prepped by Todd Matsubara of TMengineering for our booth display vehicle. In addition to all the different sound and show cars, the Extreme Autofest presented a showcase of lifestyles with a breakdance expo, skateboard expo, aerosol art expo, BMX freestyle, music showcase, and of course the bikini contest. Aside from all the added attractions, which I normally get time to go see, I only made it to part of the skate demo. The skaters in the Car Audio shirts are Rick Koutzoukis, Jon Stratton, Skyler Wallace, Alex Franks and Corey Barr. Between all the show cars and the USACi sound-off, we had a good sound Q turn-out of several cars. Also, I got a chance to catch up with car audio legend Harry Kimura while he was on hand snapping a few idea photos and checking out the scene. Great weather, great turn out, and a great time -- what more could you want? October 27 and November 16 are the final events for the 2002 Extreme Autofest season.
