Wyclef, Mercedes G500 & Unique AutosportsFeatured in the July '01 issue, Wyclef Jean's ultra-deluxe $130,000 Mercedes Benz G500 (not a V500, as stated in the article) has had more work done on the vehicle. Unique Autosports' Reme, the original installer for the MB, recently installed three 22" Panasonic TC22LT1 flat panel monitors valued at $40,000, to bring the value of this system to a grand total of $70,000. Two monitors are mounted in the rear side windows facing outward for onlookers to see; and one is in the rear window for viewing when the door is open. Combined with audio output from four sets of MB Quarts, this makes for a startling a/v effect. Just in time for the summer promotional trip to South Beach in Miami, Florida. Wyclef's new group was listed incorrectly in the July story. The proper name of his new group is Product G & B. Also on his lineup: City High with their #1 single "What Would You Do." Both have new videos that will be played on the new monitors. Unique's Will Castro also has started a promotional project van and has already picked up Panasonic as a sponsor. The van was apart of the Death Squad promotional team lead by Alex Rullan to South Beach with Wyclef and the whole UA team. The van represented with complete visual graphics, wrapped with promotions for Eminem's new group, D12, Busta Rhymes, Redman, as well as a image of Wyclef's Car Audio magazine cover on the back door. Will is looking to add some serious bass and is currently reviewing what he is going to install. Also look out for an upcoming issue of CA&E where we'll feature Jerry Wonder's convertible Bentley with 8" mid-bass speakers mounted in sealed enclosures in the doors. I listened to it before the car was finished and the mid-bass is extra tight, bringing a lot of power to the front stage. But it is a convertible, so we'll have to come back for the driving/listening test. Learn more about UA on their new Web site at www.uniqueautosport.com or call 516.564.5622. Good lookin' out, Will! -Rodney
Make Sure You're ConnectedThe founders of MobileBriefs got their inspiration from a long business commute. They realized that while commuting most people had poor or limited selections of mass media they could access, and this was especially true for continuous high-quality business content. The goal for the company was to make it possible for anyone to choose exactly the business and news information they get. That is why MobileBriefs is building a world-class mobile broadcasting company which provides individualized business content delivery based on the user's preferences. They are drawing from a large base of exclusive business book summaries, business news, and best practices within the user's industry and job function to automatically build personalized broadcasts dynamically.
A subscriber can go to the Web site, choose the areas of business (i.e. marketing, finance, etc.) and/or industries he/she is interested in; then relevant content from the vast database of business articles, abstracts, and business book reviews is fed to them every day. The user has the option of reading the text on site, downloading the text to any PDA, listening to the audio on site, downloading the audio to any PDA, downloading the audio to any MP3 player, or even accessing their own personalized audio show by a wireless PDA or cell phone. As of press time MobileBriefs was set to offer their service in several different languages beginning in July.
Selenium Beats World Record in the Heavyweight SPL CateoryOn May 19th & 20th, 2001 the IV stage of dB Drag Master took place in SPL (Sound Pressure Level) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This stage was valid for the world circuit of dB Drag, as the president of the association, Mr. Wayne Harris, was personally there and brought from the United States all the necessary measurement equipment to make the results official - this is the same equipment being used for many other world dB contests.
