There are as many different reasons to do an install as there are installers. The drive to compete, love of great sound and good old vanity all have their place. But if the installer is representing a car audio company like Scosche, your reasons are more about showing off new products than anything else. Hence the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser you see on these pages, a vehicle that manages to not only display Scosche's new EFX lineup in the best possible light, but also takes care of that great sound everyone loves so much.

This FJ Cruiser is all about the low frequencies. With eight Scosche 12" EFX HDW1244 dual 4-ohm woofers on board, this thing has more than enough bounce to the ounce. The enclosure was fabricated from wood designed with squared lines and edges to complement the bumpers and FJ factory styling cues. The ultimate goal here was "loud and low," as the installers explained. "[With] eight 12's in a sealed enclosure, with six firing back and two firing forward, [we] easily met our expectations," they said.

Woofers without amps are just really expensive salad bowls, so each of the eight Scosche HD1400 monoblock 800-watt amps runs one of the eight 12" woofers. For the front door and kick panel's speakers, installers Trevor Kaplan and Nathan Perkins dialed in a Scosche HD4300 4-channel 800-watt amp. One Scosche HD4300 4-channel 800-watt amp runs the outward-facing rear seat speakers and the rear-window pods in the back of the truck, while one HD4300 4-channel 800-watt amp runs the rear-door panel speakers. To prevent unruly vibration, Scosche Accumat Hyperflex was used throughout the vehicle. Basically, anything that could rattle was dampened.
